A quinta is a working farm with a name on the label, and most of them now take visitors by appointment. These 15 cover the Douro estates and the Gaia lodges, priced by how many ports you taste.
Spend 50 minutes on the Douro River viewing Porto, Ribeira, and Vila Nova de Gaia from the water. Choose a daytime or sunset departure, then add a separate Burmester cellar visit with Port tasting. The boat uses an optional multilingual audio guide, and you should bring headphones and a jacket.

“The audio tour allowed you to go at your own pace. Learning about the process to create port wine was interesting. I never thought I liked port wine but ended up buying two different kinds after the tasting.”
Spend about 90 minutes at Quinta do Bomfim with an English or French-speaking guide. Visit the museum, walk among Douro terraces, see the old 1896 lodge, then taste three wines or ports on a terrace above the river.

“I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The world of wine is AMAZING - an incredible facility, with so much to see, do, and learn. I was lucky to explore it when it was quiet, so it felt very immersive. The tasting experience was delicious, my only critique would be the guy who delivered it was a bit 'meh'. Not sure he knew much past what had been scripted. Taylor's Port cellar was very cool and the tasting was incredible! The guide was clearly an expert. Really interesting. wonderful customer service and setting also.”
You’ll ride Porto’s Magic Train from near Sé Catedral, pass major sights, then tour Real Companhia Velha with two port tastings. The train is useful for getting your bearings, but the cellar visit is the main event. Allow close to two hours, and expect a basic sightseeing ride rather than a full guided city tour.

Walk downhill through Porto with guides such as Nuno, David, or João, stopping at São Bento station, the cathedral, old neighborhoods, and the lower Dom Luís I Bridge. Finish in Gaia with a visit to a port producer and a tasting of three ports. Expect history, stairs, views, and a small group.

Take a Zodiac boat from Quinta do Lorde to Cais do Sardinha, then paddle along the cliffs of Ponta de São Lourenço with a guide. You’ll have time for a swim, a snack at Casa do Sardinha Nature Spot Café, and views from the shore. Guides speak English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
